President’s Message: December 2018

Fellow Homebrewers,

I hope everyone is having a great holiday season! Our December meeting is at Germania Mannerchor on December 19th. PLEASE NOTE THE 6PM START TIME. Don’t forget your side dish for the pot luck, your beverage of choice, and any family members wishing to attend.

This month, we will vote on the 2019 OVHA Board of Directors, as well announce Big Turkey winners. Who will get to brew their recipe at Maidens Brewery? Be sure to attend to find out!

Evansville Zoo Brew 2015

Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden is pleased to announce their fifth annual “Zoo Brew,” a very exciting event taking place on June 6, 2015 from 7-10 p.m. The Zoo Brew is a highly anticipated happening that will be fun for all who attend! The evening will consist of beer and wine samples, great food, live music, and fun entertainment, all taking place on Zoo grounds.

We will be participating in the Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden’s Zoo Brew. As a participant, we will set up a tasting booth during the event to provide a 2 oz. sample of our finest homebrews to Zoo Brew attendees. The Zoo Brew goal is 1,500 guests in attendance. The event has sold out each year and we are hoping for a sell out in 2014. Each guest will be given a sampling mug and enjoy tasting their way around the Zoo!

As always we will be meeting on the last Wednesday of the month again in May. This months tech topic has yet to be determined. As soon something gets lined out we will get it posted. Hope to see everyone there with a big smile and beers to sample!

OVHA April Meeting – Brewing with Honey

Brewing with honey provides a rich array of aromas and flavors that add complexity and character to your beer. This month we’ll take a look at some of the ways to incorporate honey into your home brewed beer.  John Mills will be be on hand to discuss all the different ways he has incorporated honey in to his brews.

Bloomington Craft beer Festival

We have done this event as a club in the past and it is a really good time. If you have the date open it is well worth the trip to Bloomington.

March Club Meeting

Come out and spend the evening with good friends and good beer. If you have a beer to sample we encourage you to pack it up and bring it with you! We will be discussing the local events the club is involved in an usually have an educational portion as well. Meeting starts at 7:00pm CST. Members, be sure and bring a canned good to get you raffle ticket to win some really cool swag!!

Indy Winterfest 2015

It’s that time of year again… Tickets are on sale now for the 2015 Winterfest.

Each guest receives a tasting glass and unlimited samples, ticket holders may enter from 3:00 to 7:00.
