President’s Message: August 2016

Fellow Members of OVHA,

I would like to first thank each and every one of you that showed up to support the club’s efforts at Brew HaHa and especially thank Amelia and Dwayne for his work in organizing our participation in this year’s event.  The patrons that stuck around through the blazing heat appreciated our efforts.

Only two more events this year (Wandering Owl and Tap & Cork).  More information to come regarding those events but it is never to early to start brewing your donation!

The Big Turkey website is live.  This is the site at which you will register your entries, or volunteer to judge or steward.

You must pay the remaining balance for the Nashville Brewery trip by Friday September 2nd.  You can do so either by paying Amelia at this month’s meeting or on our website.

The schedule for our day is as follows

9:00 AM–Leave from Nashville from the Civic Center parking lot
appx. 12pm to 5pm—Explore Breweries at your own pace
5pm to 7pm–meet at the Flying Saucer for dinner and drinks
7pm–Depart Nashville to return to the Civic Center lot.

Note:  We will begin loading at 8:30 AM and the bus will leave the parking lot at 9:00 AM.  Be there or be square.

Our tech topic this month will be using iodine to test mash conversion presented by Sky Buttrum.  Next month we will meet at Evansville Brewhouse so that Jeff can show us his operation.

As always, please continue to bring those canned goods to every meeting.
