The Jasper Strassenfest Homebrew Contest is small, local competition that awards gift certificates to local stores. The cost is $5.00 per entry. You will need two 12oz or one 22oz per entry and will need to be dropped off at Snaps (1115 Main St., Jasper). To submit entries early, call (812) 309-8435 or email waynep@coopsone.com. Judging starts at 11 a.m. and should conclude by 2 p.m.

The BrewFest is SWIRCA’s largest event of the year with over 1800 adults enjoying a fun-filled evening of food, drinks and entertainment at historic Bosse Field. Vendors from all over the Midwest come to share their craft and passion for creating outstanding adult beverages.
OVHA at past BrewFests
OVHA will be serving up crowd favorites again this year. If you are interested in helping out or donating some some beer keep your eyes peeled on the OVHA message board for detailed event information.
Tin Man Brewery has invited the club to have our July meeting at their brewery. The meeting will include a tour of the brewery so if you have not had a change to tour Tin Man’s brewery make sure to come out this month.
Have you entered your beer?? If so GOOD LUCK!! The club has had great success in the past, including winning the Best Of Show with John Mills English Brown.
A few of the OVHA members made the trek to Michigan to attend the AHA National Homebrewers Conference. This meeting we will hear from a few in attendance and talk about how things went and discuss future club involvement in the conference.
The AHA National Homebrewers Conference runs from June 12-14, 2014. The “Mashing in Michigan” conference is the closest to Evansville since the 2008 Cincinnati conference. Registration for this year’s conference opens in February and will be lottery-based. However, with 4,000 slots available, everyone registered will likely have the opportunity to attend. Go to http://www.ahaconference.org/ for more info. OVHA is slated to serve at Club Night and it would be awesome to have a strong contingent of orange shirts! Even if you can’t attend, a contribution of beer would be greatly appreciated.
How sour do you like it? Well you can come to the March meeting see how much you can handle. We have arranged for Caleb Staton with Upland Brewery to bring some samples of their current sour line up. He will also have a presentation telling us all about their sour program and what it takes to brew sour beers.
If you are a sour beer veteran or have yet to try your hand at brewing one you will want to make sure you come to this meeting!

This is the last of the big “external” events that we do. This is a really good fund raiser put on by Holy Redeemer church. John Mills chairs this event and will be posting information and asking for volunteers.
