Fellow Homebrewers,
Another exciting year of home brewing is upon us! Each year, I attempt to improve upon my brewing from the previous year. Whether it be my process, knowledge, or equipment — I am always looking to make better beer.
The board met a couple of weeks ago and we have a great vision for 2018. We are planning another barrel brew, along with additional club brews so that OVHA can feature more than just barreled club brews at events. Last year, OVHA purchased a 75 gallon fermenter, and I feel we should put it to use! In addition to our event schedule, we have discussed another out-of-town beer trip.
At the January meeting, VP John Mullins will discuss methods and techniques he uses for brew scheduling/planning. Additionally, I will present our 2018 calendar; which will include a large slate of fundraising events which will require beer donations, so John’s topic will be quite fitting. I will also announce 2018 Big Turkey styles/
In addition to brewing delicious beer, I also believe in the importance of our club members giving back to our community. This year, we will be collecting can goods at our monthly meetings to donate to a local food bank. If you have any other ideas for contributions, events, or other ways for club members to contribute; please contact myself or any other board member.
Lastly, don’t forget to renew your dues! This is what gives us the ability to maintain our equipment, purchase ingredients for club brews, door prizes, etc.
Cheers,
Josh
