President’s Message: March 2016

Fellow Members of OVHA,

Spring is here and that means we are right in the middle of prime brewing season!  It also means that the annual club big barrel brew is right around the corner on April 2nd.  Our friends at the Evansville Bourbon Society have graciously donated a Knob Creek barrel for the club to fill this year with an imperial stout.  Be sure to thank EBS members when you get a chance.  A special thanks goes to Jason Carson for hosting the event and John Mills for all of his assistance.  As of this posting, we only have 11 brewers signed up for to brew 5 gal and have room for 14.  If you are interested, please sign up in the forum ASAP.

Indiana Brewers Cup is fast approaching.  Important dates are listed below

5/31 – 6/24:                    Early Registration
6/11 – 6/24:                    Entry Delivery @ Sun King
7/8 – 7/9:                       Judging
7/9:                                  Reception & Awards

We will be organizing a club delivery trip to Indy.  I highly recommend that you sign up to steward the competition.  Stewarding is an excellent opportunity to rub elbows with and learn about beer styles from some experienced beer judges.  The link below takes you to the steward/volunteer registration form.

We have great tech topic planned for the March meeting, especially if you are interested in stepping up your Belgian beer game.  John Mullins and Jeremy Dunn will be sharing their expertise and experience corking and bottle conditioning their brews.

As a reminder, please continue to bring those canned goods to every meeting.
