Big Brew Day 2017!

Post by Jam095 » Wed Apr 05, 2017 9:43 pm

I am pleased to announce we will be hosting Big Brew Day 2017 at Superior Ag Co-Op once again this year! We will be hosting at both the Evansville, and Mt. Veronon locations, so whichever is more convenient for you will be just fine. In case you weren't at the meeting, the club is offering up 4 total recipe kits for this event, to paid members only. 2 of the American Rushmore IPA's, and 2 of the Battre L'oie Saisons. These are first come first serve, via claims under this thread. Just let us know if you need all grain or extract, and we'll take care of it.

For those who aren't familiar with the significance of this event, I have copied the description from the AHA website below:

"In 1988, May 7 was announced before Congress as National Homebrew Day. The American Homebrewers Association (AHA) created AHA Big Brew as an annual event to celebrate National Homebrew Day around the world. AHA Big Brew is held each year on the first Saturday in May."

"Thousands of homebrewers from all around the world have more in common than their love for homebrewing. If asked, many of them will tell you that everything you need to learn about brewing great beer at home can be found in one place; How to Brew by John Palmer. For Big Brew this year, the AHA is celebrating the upcoming publication of the 4th edition of How to Brew by providing three sample recipes from the book."

The event will begin at 9 am on Sat. May 6th, so we welcome everyone who can make it to bring their gear, and brew whatever recipe sounds good that day. Or if your lucky enough to claim one of the recipes provided, even better. I will be bringing the items that make sense to share, such as grain mill, RV hoses, water filter, extension cord, etc. DISCLAIMER: My mill is set at .030 for BIAB, so if anyone is sparging we may need someone else to bring their mill with a wider gap.

Lunch will be served by the one and only DUUUTCH! His cooking is reason enough to come out, seriously. Also, don't forget to bring some homebrew for spectators to sample, and just for us to drink :beer10

I look forward to seeing everyone there! If you have any questions, feel free to message, text, or call me. My cell is (812) 217-2552. Cheers!!!

Looking forward to it! I will bring my mill as well, which is set for sparging.

I'll bring an American Wheat to brew and let others have claim to the official recipes.

I think I will actually be able to attend this year. I might make this my 100th batch brewing day.

I may brew a milk stout that day even though I have never brewed one. That may make for an interesting brew day as a mistake could take place. Either way it sounds like fun! I'll bring my own kit as well.

Not many takers. I'll do an all-grain IPA if no one else signs up for it.

I'll take an extract Saison, but only if we don't have another taker. I could bring my extra kettle and burner so that Alli and I can each brew a batch.

I'm actually hoping someone else claims it. I'd just hate for one of the official recipes to go un-brewed that day!

C'mon, Johnny! It's Quiroz! No offense to other Adam, but "Adam Andre Hirsch" just doesn't have quite the right ring to it.

Haha...sorry Quiroz. Now, I know you didn't have a signature when I asked this question.
