Black Raspberry Starts

Post by sirgiovanni » Sat Apr 05, 2014 4:55 pm

Tom W has first pick if he wants any starts. I have over a dozen easy.

After that, anyone that wants them, first come. Bring a small pot of dirt to protect the roots.

I need them out within a week or so to prevent rooting and I have a crazy schedule to coordinate. But please let Tom know if anyone talks to him and I'll post when the rest are available.

So this is crazy. Every year I get a bit more elaborate with creating a netting cage around the berries and it seems every year the birds become more ferocious in trying to defeat me.

I'm getting around a pound a day off my 12 plants right now so the birds are really working overtime trying to figure it out. I took out a rubber snake last night and set it up weaving in and out of the netting on one side of the containment. When I went out there today, there wasn't a bird within 20 fett of the berries, from any side!

They usually figure it out unless you move it around.

Sounds like a small loop recording of a snake hissing might be really in order?

With motion detectors!
So far so good though. Still no birds around and I got another pound last night.
Next year I think I'll get a couple more rubber snakes. :D

That's nice, it would take quite a few extension chords for me but i might set one hidden in my office when I'm on the road. :)
