Loyd, are you still just doing extract? If so, that's fine, we will just need to plan accordingly.

Yes, but I'm willing to learn what is needed to get a batch done.

Loyd, if you'd like to try BIAB, let us know. Otherwise, we'll procure some malt extract.

Attention Fellow Homebrewers:

It's not too late to commit to participating in this Saturday's first group brew of the year. It's a great opportunity to interact with your fellow Homebrewers and brew some fine beer to share with our adoring public at the many charitable events that OVHA supports. Also, with brewing systems running the gamut from BIAB to RIMS, HERMS, and everything in between, you might pick up a few pointers along the way. So, get off the fence and come on out to Carson's Brewery. The doors will open at 8:00am, but latecomers will be welcome.

See you soon!

Had a great time brewing our stout today! Thanks to everyone at Carson's, and special thanks to John Mills, the corned beef was outstanding!

From round estimates of everyone that brewed yesterday there was 105 gallons split between 2 fermenters. They had OG's of 1.066 & 1.068. Both are fermenting like crazy today.
This is the list of brewers contributing (if you brewed and are not listed, please update):
Nathan Windberg
Loyd Enoch
John Mullins
Jeff Smith
John Dippel
Sky Buttrum
Michael Julian
Chris Norrick
Max King
Dutch DeHahn
Justin Hack & Jeremy Huffman
Aaron Royer & Jill Mecklenborg

One of our better group events. Very good time and good to see new faces as well.

Thanks to everyone that came out to brew. It was indeed a great event. Carson's is the perfect venue for such a brew. Thanks Jason and John for opening your doors to the OVHA! Hopefully this will be an annual tradition. Also, thanks to John for the corned beef and cabbage!

I would say that things look pretty even on pitch rates. I would think that it shouldn't drop too much more then 1.014. What did you figure FG would come in at?

og 1.066
fg 1.014
abv 6.83%

og 1.068
fg 1.020
abv 6.30%

The average of the two:
(6.83+6.30)/2= 6.565% ABV

I had it figured to finish 1.017 give or take. At 1.014, I would say "It's done" the 1.020 should still drop a couple of points.
The 2 hydro samples did taste & look different from each other. Blending the 2 post fermentation would be the way to go. Problem being is tank size. I have 83 gallon then the next size is 620 gallon. Problem for the estimated 104 gallons produced.
