National Homebrewers Conference 2014

Post by Chris Norrick » Mon Jan 27, 2014 4:04 pm

The conference runs from June 12-14, 2014. The “Mashing in Michigan” conference is the closest to Evansville since the 2008 Cincinnati conference. Registration for this year’s conference opens in February and will be lottery-based. However, with 4,000 slots available, everyone registered will likely have the opportunity to attend. Go to http://www.ahaconference.org/ for more info. OVHA is slated to serve at Club Night and it would be awesome to have a strong contingent of orange shirts! Even if you can’t attend, a contribution of beer would be greatly appreciated.

Let's make plans here.

Registration Details

AHA National Homebrewers Conference is hosting a week-long registration request period for American Homebrewers Association members interested in 2014 conference registration. This eliminates a race to register for all interested attendees, allowing members to register when it’s most convenient.

The request period will remain open for one week in late February. Attendees will receive notification of registration in March. Registration dates are coming soon!

Each member who enters the registration request period can register up to one additional guest. All attendees must be a member of the AHA, including guests.

Payment is required at the time of registration. Payment is processed automatically once the registration period is finalized.

All registered attendees must be 21+.

Conference Registration – $220
Includes:
  • Thursday, Friday & Saturday Seminars
    Homebrew Expo
    Social Club
    Welcome Reception & Toast
    Keynote Address
    Club Night
This package does not include a ticket to the Grand Banquet & AHA National Homebrewers Competition Award Ceremony. During the registration lottery, please add a Grand Banquet ticket before checking out.

Due to increased demand on conference registration the Social Package is no longer offered.

Grand Banquet & Award Ceremony Ticket – $65
Grand Banquet tickets are only available for purchase with a conference package.

Includes:
  • Grand Banquet & AHA National Homebrewers Competition Award Ceremony

Cesar and I were just reading this tonight.

We have friends from our home brew club in Houston that may be able to help since they most likely won't attend. If we are worried we won't get enough spots, we could ask them to register just in case. Then if they get in and we need the spots, it says you can change guests as long as new guest is an AHA member.

We can discuss at the meeting tomorrow before we talk to anyone.

We are excited!!

New details just released:

Registration Details

In response to member feedback, the American Homebrewers Association (AHA) is introducing a new registration system for the 2014 AHA National Homebrewers Conference that reduces the stress of the time-sensitive, first come, first served approach.

The new system invites members to apply for a chance to register for the conference when it is most convenient for them during the one week application window. Read on to learn more about the new system.

Does Everyone Get In?

Due to capacity constraints, we must cap attendance for the National Homebrewers Conference. If demand does not exceed capacity, all members who have applied will receive a registration confirmation email directly from Altitude Tickets, our third-party registration partner, with instructions on how to complete their purchase online.

Should demand exceed capacity, a random lottery conducted by Altitude Tickets will be used to draw names of those who have applied to register.

We expect the majority of those interested in attending to get in. The application window provides an even playing field for all interested in attending with no “race to enter” stress; the lottery process provides a solution for random selection of attendees, should we experience greater demand than capacity allows. Capacity allows for a 20 percent increase in the number of attendees over last year.

Application Window

Opens: 10:00 am MST, February 19, 2014
Closes: 10:00 pm MST, February 26, 2014

The time at which an application is submitted will have no influence on securing conference registration; there is no need to sign up as soon as the application window opens, nor any value to waiting until the last minute.

Registration Confirmations

Before March 8, 2014

Application to Register Details

Conference registration is open only to AHA members 21 years or older. Membership must be current at the time of application. Altitude Tickets will host the application to register, as well as the payment process.
  • Each member applying to register may request ONE guest registration.
All guests must also be members of the AHA.
A valid 9-digit AHA member number for each registrant and guest will be required.
Each AHA member may apply to register once; this includes guests. Duplicate entries will be disqualified. Do not apply more than one time.
Do not apply to register unless you are certain you want to attend the conference!
You must decide if you and/or your guest will attend the Grand Banquet & Award Ceremony when you apply to register. You will not be able to add this later.
If you apply to register a guest and a lottery system is used (based on demand and capacity), both you and your guest will be drawn as a team—you will not be split up.
Registering with a guest or requesting Grand Banquet & Award Ceremony tickets does not impact your chances positively or negatively in a lottery draw.
Receipt of your application to register will be sent via email from Altitude Tickets. This is not a registration confirmation and does not guarantee a spot at the conference.
No registration requests will be accepted after the application window closes.
Registration Confirmation and Payment Details
  • Payment is not required when you apply to register.
A registration confirmation or consolation email will be sent from Altitude Tickets before March 8, 2014.
A registration confirmation email will include information on how to complete your purchase online, finalizing your registration for the conference.
A registration consolation email indicates a lottery system was used and you did not receive a spot to attend the conference.
The AHA will establish a firm deadline for submitting registration payments determined by the date confirmation emails are sent. Members will have no less than two business days plus one weekend (a minimum of four days total) to finalize their registration with payment.
If a registration is not finalized with payment before the deadline, the ability to register is forfeited.
You will not be able to change your registration options during the payment process. This includes your choice on bringing a guest or attending the Grand Banquet & Award Ceremony. Those options will be locked in when you apply to register. If needed, you will be able to change names on your registration at a later date, provided the substituted guest is an AHA member.
Payment will be processed once you enter your credit card information and complete your purchase via Altitude Tickets.
Registered attendees will receive a registration payment confirmation from Altitude Tickets.
Registered attendees will receive conference hotel details after their registration payment is confirmation.

So we talked last night and Jeff does not think we can transfer tickets from someone else.

I contacted AHA about Cesar and I signing up each other as guests and their response was: This is against the rules as each member can only be register once as a guest or the primary attendee, they cannot be entered as both.

Registration is now open. For those registering to attend, will you be signing up for the banquet? Last year's wasn't particularly filling, but it was a good time.
